I’m getting all festive and we kick off the Grafik Advent project on green boxes around the city of Brighton. Keep your eyes peeled for more but to get you started there are already 3 boxes completed by myself ,  Sinna One and one by mr SNUB23.

Here are a couple of pics. For more info check out my Flickr and my Facebook page.

BLLLLAAAARRGGGHHH!!

Fresh St. ART

I never realised that there were so many big tongued cat munstaz hanging out around Brighton but it seems that I was wrong. This is a fitting companion and tongue comparison for the fluffy beast. Ivy is one of the keepers of ‘Swatantra’ the cat munsta, ensuring that he is well fed and always smiling.

This cat is one of the many images produced on the ‘Fresh St. ART’ Youth Project.

Producers Retreat – Hippy Retreat

Events

Many thanks, yet again, to the guys at Producer’s Retreat and at the Caxton Arms for another great paint and choons event. The vibes were all peace and love, the paint and beer was flowing. With the flower power beats busting out and the Nag Champa slowly burning in to our brain, this Retreat was one of the best yet.

Props to Max and Charlotte, who knows how to rock a party.

Fellow artists on the night were Pinky, Snub23, Mishfit, Hinesy Hines, Ennui and Squirl Art.

If you’re based in Brighton and you haven’t been to one of these nights, then you are most definitely missing out.

Check out the facebook page for more info and pics here.

The Green Box Saga

Brighton Green Boxes, Fresh St. ART, Media Box painting, Uncategorized

This year I have been working with youth groups and Brighton council to paint some of the spaces around the city. Along with this I have been given permission to paint a number of the green electricity and communications boxes around the place. Following in the footsteps of Brighton Green Box artist, Cassette Lord, I hope to offer a more colourful and alternative style to the current casette and mixer stencils normally seen around. Here are just a few that have been done already….

Warm memories of Summer – Playgroup Festival – Brighton Goes Camping!

Commissions, Events, Festivals

This is how bad at blogging I am as I wrote this months ago and forgot to post. I suppose it’s relevant now though as for one it’s turned ruddy freezing! So I’m having an ikkle remenisce of the scorching, fuzzy fun times and long hazy days. Also Playgroup are selling off some cheap tickets for next years festival and they are very limited, so get in there – Playgroup Christmas Offer. Definitely a highlight of my summer. See ya there.

Last month I was invited to come and do the decor for Playgroup Festival. This beautiful little festival by the Brighton Club promoters of the same name is now in it’s second year and what an amazing 2nd year it was. I arrived on the Wednesday to paint lots of signage, including the main entrance welcome sign. Armed with Festival logo stencils and my trusty suitcase of paint I preceded to paint all manner of animal themed bits and bobs. And, yes, of course, plenty of Badgers!! Unfortunately, I only managed to get a couple of shots over the weekend as my camera ran out battery and I was having such a good time.

The festival had a great vibe, really friendly and a good size too, making it less of a mission to get around. Acts, such as DJ Format, Quantic and his Combo Barbaro, The Correspondents, Reso, High Rankin and many other audio delights rocked the crowds all weekend.

Proper Good. Cant wait until next year.

BIG BIG BIG

Blackrock, Collaborations, Commissions, Sinbot, Walls

In the past year and a half I have been involved in some of the biggest wall projects that I have ever done. It started in May 2010 with the event The Beautiful and the Canned 2, which was a highlight of 2010’s May Fringe Festival in Brighton and Hove. There were a number of large walls painted around the city by a selection of amazing spray paint and stencil artists. This event was lovingly and meticulously organised by Brighton’s own Guy Harris and Fay Mcdonald at WET PAINT PRODUCTIONS. The wall I was involved with, as seen above, was a collaboration with Brighton’s no.1 female spray artist, MISHFIT, London’s awesome character artist , INKFETISH,  mural cartoonist, KEV MUNDAY and Leamington Spa’s super tech stencilist, DBO. With a special guest appearance by Holland’s (or Nolland) crazy graff cartoonist, NOL getting as high as he always gets ( he is a very tall guy!). This was assisted by Independent Scaffolding of Brighton

In August 2010, I single handedly painted the largest mural I had ever painted. The wall ( as seen above ) took a week to complete, up a scaffold and I probably went through around 50 tins of spray paint. Powered by the mighty KOBRA brand and once again supported and elevated by INDEPENDENT SCAFFOLDING of Brighton, the wall was commissioned by THE  PROPERTY SHOP to promote a new business venture in to home repairs called ALL BUILDING TRADES. The image is the cut away of a house showing lots of building and repairs going on throughout.

This year has seen more large work go up ( see below ) and there are still a few more projects in the pipe line.

CompARTment workspace

Projects

I have been working with compARTment for a little while now. They are a not for profit organisation, based in Brighton, that look for empty spaces to use for arts projects and community work.

They currently have a space at the open market in Brighton that I regularly use as a studio space.

This can be rented at lo-cost for studio space, exhibitions, pop up shops, experimenting with materials etc.

Yesterday Women 158 popped along and put up this beauty on the right. Today, I felt that she seemed a little lonely so painted this artist character.

For more info on compARTment got to www.compartment.org.uk
