Today sees the launch of the Brighton Festival street project in conjunction with Grafik Warfare.

You may have seen the wall of AUNG SAN SUU KYI, that we did for last years festival. If not then the post is here

This year we are rolling out a smaller set of images across the city, using the festival branding over the media boxes.

We are also collaborating with a team of Yarn Bombers to add some fabric style Street Art in to the mix.

Keep your eyes peeled around Brighton for the next week or so and you’ll see the work appearing.

I have been working with an arts collective called CompARTment for a couple of years now and their ethos is to use empty or disused spaces for arts and events.

Brighton Fringe is once again upon us and this time compARTment have joined forces with other collectives to continue their mission in finding empty spaces.

The Waste of Space project is a collision of  ideas in secret locations through a series of pop-up exhibitions, music, workshops and performances. The aim is for visitors to immerse themselves in a creative trail reviving empty spaces.

The preview of our first pop up opens tonight at 99 Church Rd, Hove. Doors open at 6pm.

Expect to see art from members of all of the collectives and a fresh new gallery space that shall be playing host to many different exhibits, workshops and events over the course of may. Also keep your eyes peeled for our other venues, which shall be updated over May on the Waste of Space site.

I shall be showing some work,  and there will also be a GRAFIK WARFARE showcase happening on the 18th, 19th and 20th May. Expect for there to be amazing new artwork from Grafik Warfare members and friends and also some spray painting and street art workshops.

There is also a launch party on Friday the 5th May upstairs at the Albert.

The Green Box Saga

This year I have been working with youth groups and Brighton council to paint some of the spaces around the city. Along with this I have been given permission to paint a number of the green electricity and communications boxes around the place. Following in the footsteps of Brighton Green Box artist, Cassette Lord, I hope to offer a more colourful and alternative style to the current casette and mixer stencils normally seen around. Here are just a few that have been done already….

Getting Prehistoric!!

A sneak peek at some of the stuff I’ve been up to recently. This giant beast is part of a project that I have become involved in. It is going to be showcased at the Secret Garden Party this year as part of an action camp called “Wonky Paleontology” The sculpture is made of papier mache, cloth and piping and is in pieces. The bones will be buried in to a sand pit and then dug up and put together to make a giant puppet. The project is the brain child of artists at the Crescent Studios in Brighton, Katherine Griffin, Elizabeth Jardine and Carinan Blijdenstein. If you are at SGP or Playgroup festival this year then you may just catch a glimpse of this creature.
